Everyone Needs Support Now and Then
As you may notice by reading this website, the overall message is to live a happier life. Everybody wants that, right?
But, I know from my own personal experiences dealing with mental illness that you just can’t “think happy thoughts” and make the mental illness go away. There’s no magic wand we can wave that spreads happy sprinkles and makes everything all better.
Positive thinking is key, at least for me. No matter how dark it is, it unlocks the door to the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s a mighty tool, but it’s just a small piece of a much bigger puzzle.
That puzzle includes a ton of support. But, you need the resources to find it.
Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of.
It’s a medical problem, just like heart disease or diabetes. Mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in emotion, thinking or behavior (or a combination of these).
American Psychiatric Association
Mental illnesses need to be treated and shouldn’t be ignored. Seek help – live better because you deserve it.
Keep in mind that I’m not a medical professional, nor do I claim to be. I have to get my meds from a doctor, just like everyone else.
I’m just a person with mental illness helping to raise awareness for mental health. I’m also your cheerleader. I really do want you to be happy with yourself; to truly believe in your heart that you are worthy, strong, and beautiful.
This is why I’ve created the Resources and Support page.
If you or someone you love is in crisis, the information and contact numbers are right there for you – big and bold. Just click the link to automatically dial. There are text and chat links as well.
If you’re having a bout of anxiety or just need to relax your mind, there are videos to watch. They help calm your thoughts, ground your mind, and relax your breathing.
The Resources and Support page also contains links to some of the many mental health websites and hotlines around the world.
If you want to find a support contact based on diversity inclusiveness, there’s a section for that.
There are also support listings for Veterans and Healthcare Professionals.
There’s also a hotline for Seafarer’s. According to the United Nations, there are approximately 2 million people who travel by sea, or more importantly, transport critical goods such as foods, medical equipment, and vaccines around the world by sea. We need to remember them, as well.
The Resource and Support page has a link to the National Helpline Resource Directory with over 600 contacts!
If you’re not in crisis and you just need to talk, there’s a link to the National Warmline Directory. with information to further guide you in your journey.
There is a ton of information about self-care and tools to help you manage. There’s even distraction apps that are pretty fun, if you ask me.
You can also learn about mental illness and how to support a loved one who might be struggling.
The Resource and Support page also has facts, stats, warning signs, support groups, and a special section just on children and teen mental health.
This is really a page for everyone, I think — mental illness or not. I believe everyone can benefit from it. It’s not just mental illness, it’s mental health.
The message between the lines is positivity, encouragement, and kindness — to yourself and everybody else. Makes sense to me.
I wish you well, my friend!
