Mental Health: Resources & Support
CRISIS INFORMATION and links to Mental Health resources nationally and worldwide.

Green Ribbon Mental Health AwarenessAs you may know by reading this website, the overall message is to live happier.

But, I know from my own personal experiences dealing with mental illness that you just can’t “think happy thoughts” and make the mental illness go away.

There’s no magic wand we can wave around to spread happy sprinkles on everything and make “it” all better.

Positive thinking is an important tool, but it’s just a small piece of a much bigger puzzle.

Keep in mind that I’m not a medical professional, nor do I claim to be. I have to get my meds from a doctor, just like everyone else. I’m just a person helping to raise awareness for mental health.

I’m also your cheerleader. I really do want you to be happy with yourself.

Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of.

It’s a medical problem, just like heart disease or diabetes.

Mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in emotion, thinking or behavior (or a combination of these). They need to be treated and shouldn’t be ignored.

Seek help – live better because you deserve it.

Below are the links to some of the many websites with information to further guide you in your journey. The information has been taken straight from their own material and the links will take you directly to their websites.

I wish you well, my friend!

As independent affiliates of DBSA in their communities, DBSA chapters offer peer-run support groups across the nation where you will find comfort and direction in a confidential and supportive setting, and where you can make a difference in the lives of others. The selection of services offered differs by chapter, depending upon the needs of its participants. Most support groups are volunteer-run and provide self-help through facilitated meetings. Our support groups do not serve as group therapy; however, many of our chapters have professional advisers (typically a psychiatrist, psychologist, nurse, or social worker) from the community.

In addition to participating in the group meetings, you will meet people from your community who can relate to your experiences. You may learn valuable information about mental health professionals and services in your area, as well as tips and techniques others use to manage their condition.

Other services some chapters offer in addition to their support groups include educational sessions, newsletters, lending libraries, and special events. Some offer information on mental health professionals in your area or upcoming mental health legislation in your state.

For many years, a small group of dedicated volunteers have been managing dozens of online support groups covering many different OCD and related disorders topics. All groups are moderated and occasionally visited by therapists who treat OCD and OC related disorders.

On the other hand, treatment groups are able to be a substitute for individual therapy. They are often more affordable treatment options for individuals, and have many of the benefits of support groups detailed above. Treatment groups are run by licensed mental health professionals and deliver evidence-based treatment for OCD in a group setting, instead of in an individual setting.

Safe Space created by Vibrant Emotional Health

The Safe Space is home to free resources and tools to provide you with some extra support in an emotionally safe environment. At Vibrant Emotional Health, our goal is to build a society in which wellness can be a reality for everyone. Vibrant’s Safe Space seeks to provide evidence-based self-help tools, education, and resources to people looking for support alongside crisis services such as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, as well as people in emotional distress who may not be inclined to use a crisis service. The development of the Safe Space was done in collaboration with the three national advisory committees of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, which is funded by SAMHSA and administered by Vibrant. Research has shown that empowering people to choose their own digital supports when they most need them can have a positive impact on mental health and suicide prevention.
